Service Overview
Philadelphia’s housing crisis forces many families into homelessness, and Lutheran Settlement House provides supports to help families navigate the crisis and to find the stability and dignity they deserve. Jane Addams Place shelter is home to up to 25 families, about 30 adults and 70 children. Families at Jane Addams Place receive comprehensive case management services, trauma therapy, and nutritious meals with fresh fruits and vegetables. Children have the chance to play safely in our courtyard, gym, and “Bright Spaces” activity room, and they use our academic supports and computer lab to achieve in school. Families might not be with us for long, usually 4-12 months, but we provide a healing place where they learn skills to help them accomplish their goals after leaving.
