Classes

The center offers classes each day including arts and crafts, tai chi, computer instruction, cooking, ceramics, exercise, Bible study, and line dancing.

In addition to classes, daily activities include speakers from groups and institutions across Philadelphia, gardening in our urban farm, ongoing field trips, and holiday celebrations including our annual turkey and Thanksgiving box give-away.

LSH Food Cupboard

Available Monday-Friday, 9 am-3 pm. It is recommended to arrive by 2:30 pm. All ages are welcome. No referrals are required. Call Hungry 2 Healthy Coordinator, Candice Li with any questions at 215-426-8610 x2014. Please bring clean bags for the groceries.

Caregiver Support Program

The Caregiver Support Program recognizes the physical and emotional stress of caring for a loved one full time, and understands the linked increases in health problems, heightened risk for depression, and social isolation that comes with such a responsibility. Additionally the caregiver’s level of stress is considered to be one of the most important predictors of nursing home entry for the person you are caring for.

Senior Center Counselor

If you would like to talk with someone about a personal concern, need assistance with utility bills or have a financial need, our Senior Center Counselor is available by appointment to assist you. Help is available for social security concerns, house repairs, PACE applications and property tax/rent rebate programs. Lunch

A nutritious lunch is served daily and is available free or with a small donation for seniors 55+ (other guests are asked to pay the posted amount). Coffee, tea and a snack start the day beginning at 8:30.

Transportation

Senior center staff arrange van transportation for rides to and from the Center and medical appointments for eligible seniors 65+.
