Walk to End Domestic Violence is October 22nd!

Senator Leanna Washington's Walk to End Domestic Violence is October 22nd! Proceeds go to support the Philadelphia Domestic Violence Hotline (PDVH). LSH's Bilingual Domestic Violence Program is part of the collaborative that provides crisis intervention, safety planning, and referrals for victims of domestic violence on the PDVH. Please register for the Walk and join us!

Thursday, Sept. 1 –Wills Eye Mobil Van in the LSH Parking lot from 9:00am to 1:15pm.

Eye exams are for folks who don’t have an eye doctor or who have not had an exam for over a year. Call Mary at 215-426-8610 ext: 202 for an appointment.
Must arrive half an hour prior to exam to complete paper work.

Other requirements:
Participants must pre-register, must not have their own eye doctor and must not have had an eye exam in the past year.  Also participants will be asked to participate in a research project. Exams are not tied to the research. If they do not want to take part, they will still get the exam. Register prior to exam.

Friday, Sept 23. Mobil Van with Cardiologist to visit LSH.

Working with Domestic Violence Survivors: A Training for Professionals

Training Details:

Date: Wednesday July 13th, 2011
Time: 9:30 am to 4:30 pm
Location: Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office
Three South Penn Square, Ray Harley Training Center
Cost: $55 (does not include lunch)
Please RSVP by July 6th 2011

Training Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
• Describe the dynamics of an abusive relationship
• Identify the impact of domestic violence on victims and their children
• Use effective intervention strategies with survivors of domestic violence (including safety planning
and empowerment counseling)
• Name local resources for victims of domestic violence, and be able to make appropriate referrals
