LSH believes that nutrition education, access to healthy foods, and a relationship to local food sources should be a part of everything we do.
That is why LSH hosts a Hungry to Healthy Program that runs a local food pantry and provides healthy food options to low-income families, runs cooking classes for the residents of Jane Addams Place, and cultivates an urban farm at the corner of Frankford and Master in Fishtown.
Every summer, community teens are paired with seniors from the Senior Center to grow and harvest fresh vegetables and flowers for the Senior Center. Last year over 1000 lbs. of food was grown, harvested and distributed to local community members.
