Since opening its doors over a century ago, Lutheran
Settlement House has served more than one
million individuals regardless of income, age, ethnicity,
sexual orientation, or religious or political affiliations.
Our work is made possible through the generosity of
hundreds of individuals, local businesses, faith communities,
corporations, and foundations.
We invite you to join
others who share a commitment to empowering individuals,
families, and communities in the Philadelphia region.
Your financial contributions allow us to continue to
offer our services, from counseling and education to
providing food and shelter, free of charge.

Did you know that you can double
or triple your gift if your employer or affiliated organization
has a matching gift program? Many employers, such as Verizon
and Merck Pharmaceuticals, match any charitable contributions
made by their employees. If your company has a matching
gift program, request a matching gift form from your HR
department, and send it completed and signed with your
gift. We’ll
do the rest.

Attention members of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans! |
|
Did you know that Thrivent has an active matching gift program
for its members; matching up to $400 per year? To participate
in this program, called GivingPlus, please indicate to LSH
that you are a Thrivent member when sending in your gift,
and we’ll send the necessary paperwork to you. You
may also find information on the Giving Plus Program by visiting
Thrivent’s website at www.thrivent.com |
More Ways to Support LSH! |
| Planned Giving |
Planned giving integrates your gift with your overall financial,
tax, and estate planning goals to maximize benefits for both
you and LSH.
Planned gifts typically come from a donor's assets rather
than income, and can be either outright or deferred. Other
types of gifts include:
• Trusts, Charitable Lead Trust, Charitable Remainder
Trust
• Charitable Gift Annuities
• Real estate
• Life insurance
• Mutual funds
• Pooled Income Fund
• Donor Advised Fund
Preparing a planned gift to Lutheran Settlement House is
a very special way of supporting the people we serve long
into the future.
If you plan to give to LSH through a planned gift, you should
seek the advice of a lawyer or professional financial advisor. |
| Giving In Kind |
| Another easy way to support LSH is by providing actual
items that people need. We've compiled a Wish List of necessary
items, such as:
• new clothes for residents of LSH’s
Homeless Services Program lutherhouse.html
• books and school supplies for our Homeless Services
Program or the Education Department education.html
• pre-paid telephone cards or personal care packets
for women and children who are being counseled through our
Bilingual Domestic Violence Project domesticviolence.html
• pre-packaged or canned foods for our seniors seniorcenter.html.
Please note, our storage is extremely limited, so before
purchasing gifts, please contact LSH. |
| Volunteer Opportunities |
| LSH welcomes volunteers of all ages and skill levels for
short-and long-term projects. If you are interested in
volunteering at LSH, please contact Jacqueline Berry, Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator at 215-426-8610 x 274. Volunteer
opportunities in direct service with clients, administrative
support, and on LSH’s Board of Directors and Advisory
Committees are available! |
Lutheran Settlement House gratefully acknowledges the individuals,
congregations, organizations, foundations, and corporations
who support our efforts and the participants with whom we
work! |
